Welcome back to another Weekend Small Press & Indie Book Review! ๐ I am so excited about this week’s pick because it is taking us somewhere completely out of this world โ literally. Whether you’re a lifelong sci-fi fan or a romance reader who’s been curious about dipping your toes into the genre, I think you are going to love where this one goes. Grab your favorite reading snack and settle in, because here we go!
๐ This Weekend’s Pick

This week I am thrilled to spotlight Tordan by Akira Angel โ Book 1 of the Cyborg Warriors series: The Ardak Chronicles. Look at that cover! A brooding warrior, a fierce elven heroine crackling with magic, and a planet on the brink โ I was already hooked before I read a single page. If you love a story that blends action, world-building, and a slow-burn romance that earns every single moment, this one is calling your name.
๐ The Details

๐ Genre: Sci-Fi Romance
๐ถ๏ธ๐ถ๏ธ๐ถ๏ธ Spice Level: Two & 1/2 out of five โ there is heat here, friends, but the story absolutely earns it!
Tordan is the kind of book that proves sci-fi romance really can do it all. You get epic stakes, a richly imagined world, complex characters with real emotional depth โ and yes, a romance that made me want to cheer. If you have ever bounced off sci-fi because it felt too cold or too technical, this one might just be the book that changes your mind.
๐ Why You’ll Love It โ My Spoiler-Free Thoughts

Okay, let me tell you just enough to get you excited without giving anything away โ because trust me, you want to discover this one fresh. ๐
The Aradaks have invaded the planet and they are not playing nice. Their weapon of choice? Mind control โ and they are using it on the cyborg-turned-humanoid race, stripping away identity and autonomy in a way that is genuinely chilling. Into the middle of this nightmare steps Tordan, a warrior, who when he comes across Aielle, an elven prisoner, he has the power to see through the mind-control haze. And Aielle, who is an Elven princess with a secret.
What I love most about this premise is the twist it puts on the classic romance dynamic. This isn’t just two people falling for each other against all odds โ it’s two people from very different worlds forced to work together to save the planet they both call home, while one of them is actively battling to reclaim his own mind. That identity-and-memory thread woven through the romance gives it so much extra emotional weight, and Akira Angel handles it beautifully.
Elves and cyborgs and alien invaders โ oh my! ๐ It sounds wild, and it absolutely is, but it works. If you’re the kind of reader who loves a romance with high stakes and a genuine twist, this is the book for you.
๐ Where You Can Find It

The great news? Tordan (Cyborg Warriors, Book 1) is available right now on Kindle Unlimited โ so if you’re a KU subscriber, you can dive in tonight at no extra cost! It is also available for purchase on Amazon. Head over and search for Tordan by Akira Angel, or look up the Cyborg Warriors series to find it.
And that is a wrap on Book Review #5! ๐ Every time I sit down to write one of these posts, I am reminded of just how much incredible storytelling is out there waiting to be discovered โ stories that might not have a big publisher’s marketing budget behind them, but absolutely have the heart, the imagination, and the craft to knock your socks off.
When you pick up a book by an indie or small press author, you are doing something really meaningful โ you are helping a writer keep doing what they love. So please, if you read Tordan and enjoy it, leave a review, tell a friend, share a post. It makes the biggest difference. ๐
Happy Reading! ๐ โ Eliza
